Saturday, September 23, 2006 – Hills, Iowa
The Bicyclists of Iowa City

Begin with Breakfast
This "doozie of a day-ride" will kick off with a Belgian waffle breakfast
in Hills, Iowa. Breakfast will be served from 6 AM until 11 AM in the
Community Building located on Main Street in Hills. Your registration
includes breakfast.
Dad’s Belgian Waffle’s will be cooking up something spectacular. In
addition to waffles being grilled before your eyes, there will be an
impressive display of toppings to delight your senses. Hot sausage, coffee
and orange juice compliment the steaming waffles.
We’re not going to keep family, friends and neighbors from joining in on
the bountiful breakfast. This breakfast will be open to the public with
tickets on sale for $5. Children under 2 years of age are free. The event is
co-sponsored by the Hills Fire and Rescue Unit.
Start your Engines
Your internal engine, that is. Now that you’ve fueled up, get ready to
ride. The ride opens at 7 AM.
You have two choices for packet pickup:
Friday, September 22nd from 6 PM – 8 PM in Hills City Park
Day of ride, September 23rd from 6 AM until 11 AM in Hills
City Park
Fun A-Plenty
We’re cookin’ up more than a breakfast for you. We’re cookin’ up some
fun. Nestled along the gentle rolling hills are rest stops designed to
delight. Hop off that saddle and enjoy.
What a Sight to Behold
All routes begin in the farming town of Hills, Iowa. You may be
interested to know that the town was named after a person, and not the
topography (whew!). The routes do have gentle rolling hills. You’ll pedal on
low traffic roads that will take you by lovely farms during the harvest
season.
All Freshened Up and Somewhere to Go
After your ride enjoy a hot shower and stay for entertainment in the
park. Irene and the Mad River Band will play from 1 – 4 PM. The ride event
will close at 5 PM.
Venture over to the local Hills Bar and Tap to toast your accomplishment
and enjoy live music by Nick Stika Aquestics beginning at 2 PM and "Dog's on
Skis" playing from 9 PM – 1 AM.
Camping
Camping is available in Hills City Park on Friday and Saturday. Camp with
us on Saturday night and join the Bicyclists of Iowa City for their club
ride on Sunday morning.
