the previous meeting on Oct 7, 2007 were read and approved. Sus Elliot
Bryant's name has been corrected.
*Treasurer’s Report:
The club is solvent..
*Webmaster:
Unavailable.
*Racing Report:
For next year, we have acquired some new
sponsors. There will be thirty (30) members participating
*Swine Trek:
No new information to report
*RAGBRAI:
No activity to report.
*Touring Director's Report:
The regular weekend rides are finished.
Members may check the website for scheduled monthly rides. The Tour de
Lights has been scheduled for 5 pm on Dec 15, 2007 at Java Creek Cafe (588
Boyson Rd NE)
*Member Relations:
There are 146 members.

An audit to be HBA books should be obtained..

During the past 30 days, there have been no significant problems.
Forum continues to be popular for exchanging information about rides.

Racing is finished for the year.
*Swine Trek:
No news to report. A contact should
be made to Pleasant Creek Park regarding Swine Trek for 2008.

the previous meeting on July 9, 2007 were read and approved.
*Treasurer’s Report:
For their assistance with RAGBRAI, a check
will be sent to Jim and Denise Houlahan.
*Webmaster:
As a reminder, when you are ride leader, you need to submit a
report via e-mail to Art Sibold.
In addition, the ride sign-up sheet should be mailed to Connie Bird.
For further information please refer to the web site. *Racing
Report:
The last night for racing will be held on
August 28. Vern Rotert
requested $500 to cover expenses for this racing year due to low participation.

*Swine Trek:
No report.
*RAGBRAI:
A few things need to be completed for this year,
and thank-you notes will be sent out soon. *Touring
Director's Report:
CCRider event will be held on Saturday,
August 25.
Next FullMoonRide is scheduled for August 28.

*Member Relations:
Currently there are one hundred and
thirty-three (133) paid members.
*Old Business:

*New Business:
1) plans are to re-order more jerseys, to be delivered for the
holiday season. Refer to the web site for further information.
2) Mayor's Bike Ride will be held on September 3.
For 2008, the Bike-To-Work and Mayor's Bike Ride will be held in the Spring.

Nothing new. *Racing
Report:
HBA team was sixth out of 16 teams in the
men's division, and ninth overall..
*Swine Trek:
114 riders participated in this event.
This was an increase over last year's participation. Only a few
members were unable to participate.
*RAGBRAI:
Checks were written for Ragbrai
® accommodations. Plans are shaping up nicely for this
annual event. *Touring
Report:
Family rides have 3 to 12 members
participating.
The Slow-Sunday rides have 6 to 8 members
involved.
*Member Relations:
One hundred and twenty-five (128) paid
members.
*Old Business:

*New Business:
Possibility that the club will be involved in Bike-to-Work Week, as
well as the Mayor's Bike Ride

*Treasurer’s Report:
A letter was received from St. Luke's
Hospital acknowledging our assistance with the Bike Rodeo
*Webmaster:
Two new bulletin boards have been added. One is for
Buy-and-Sell with Bob Potter as Moderator
The second one is for RAGBRAI with Jim Neiderheiser as moderator *Racing
Report:
The State Team Time Trial has been
scheduled for Sunday July 1 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. There
appears to be good interest and many have signed up.
*Swine Trek:
A canopy has been purchased.
Volunteers are needed for food and at rest stops.
*RAGBRAI:
Housing has been established at Dyersville.
A few people have cancelled this year. *Touring
Report:
Ride leaders have sent reports to the
webmaster, for placement on the web site. Good attendance was
present for the Full Moon Ride.
*Member Relations:
One hundred and twenty-five (125) paid
members.

The Swine Trek
Report was corrected it will be a canopy instead of a tent

Because of a service outage, the website was done, but is now up

Season is going well and the team is active.

Flyers have been mailed out. Volunteers are
needed to assist..

There are some possibilities of housing at

a) Todd Erickson is designing an HBA cycling cap. Depending
on demand, there is a possibility of fifteen (15) to twenty (20) caps
available.
Motion made by Jerry Falta and seconded by Vern Rotert. Motion carried
for securing a design for the cycling caps.

The Treasurer's
Report was corrected: fees have been paid for Swine Trek at Pleasant
Creek Park: Under New Business: Hawkeye Bike Club is
promoting "Bike To Work" week.
*Treasurer’s Report:
State of Iowa has been notified of the new Treasurer of
HBA.
*Webmaster:
There is a link to Members Photos Page: HBA members can submit a
photo and caption to the webmaster.
There are 40 members registered with the website forum.
The HBA Racing page has been updated.
The Swine Trek page has been updated.
*Racing Report:
Nothing reported
*Swine Trek:
Motion by Art Sibold, seconded by Vern Rotert, to authorize purchase of a
12x12 tent. Motion carried.
Discussed possibility of stamping HBA logo on the tent.
*RAGBRAI:
Housing still has to be secured.
*Member News:
This position has been deleted
*Touring Report:
Rides are going well. Bike shops will have schedules available.

a) Tanager Family Fest Event will be held on Saturday, June 1 at
Rockwell-Collins, and is sponsored by St. Luke's Hospital
One thousand helmets will be distributed to children.
b) A bike rodeo will be held at the Marion HyVee on Saturday, April
28
c) Many thanks are extended to Jim Healy of Linn County Trail
Association, for speaking at tonight's potluck supper.

The minutes from
the February 12, 2007 meeting were read and approved with the following
change: the correct number of RAGBRAI tags is sixty (60) instead
of seventy (70)
*Treasurer’s Report:
Advertisement fees for Freedom Festival, and Des
Moines Register rider fees, have been paid.
Yet to be paid is fee for Pleasant Creek Park for Swine Trek.
*Web Master:
Web site Ride Guidelines, Ride Schedule 2007, Wednesday Night, and
Special Events pages have been updated for 2007.
*Racing Report:
Thirty-six members have participated in the racing. The outdoor racing
season begins April 3 at Hawkeye Downs.
Races ill be on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Registration at
6 pm with racing at 6:30 pm.
For over 50s, the winner for the series in three cities is Larry Howe;
and for over 60s,
John Adamson and Vern Rotert
*Swine Trek:
Diane will check on insurance for Pleasant Creek Park.
Date fixed as Saturday, June 23, 2007
*RAGBRAI:
Bus and registration fees have been paid.
Next activity is to secure overnight housing.

*Touring Report:
Club scheduled rides will begin March 31. Schedules will be posted at
bike shops and are available on the HBA web site.

a) It is hoped a ride called "Bike to Work" can be established this
year.
b) Perhaps Linn County Trail Assoc. will be assist with repairs and
redesign at the 42nd Street section of the CRT.
c) Linn County Sheriff requested the club assist with a Bike Rodeo to
teach school kids more about safety.
d) A spring potluck will be held on Sunday, April 1 at 6:30 pm at Hiawatha
Community Center.

The Hawkeye Bike Club would like to thank all those who participated in the
Ride Leader Meeting.
*Treasurer’s Report:
The Hawkeye Bike Club is solvent. The website fees
have been paid for one year, but we are seeking a new website.
*Web Master:

*Racing Report:
Roller racing was held on February 17, 2007.
*Swine Trek:
Application is now due for certificate for Freedom Fest.
Insurance needs to be secured by March 1, 2007 for
Pleasant Creek Park.
*RAGBRAI:
It was discussed the number of members participating in
RAGBRAI . Hawkeye Bike Club can secure seventy (70) tags.
A member's activity in the club will determine their participation in this
event.
*Member News:
None.
*Touring Report:
Twelve (12) members participated in the Full Moon Ride.
a) For official scheduled rides, members need to wear helmet, a shirt or
jersey.
b) Rides will be posted at the local bike shops.
c) Wednesday’s rides will have a north or south route. Please refer
to the website for the correct date and location.
d) It is requested all ride reports be e-mailed to Art Sibold
*Member Relations:
For all paid memberships, the new member club cards are being mailed.
*Old Business:
There are several jerseys still available.
*New Business:
Members need to be aware of safe cycling and sharing the roads.
It was suggested a billboard pertaining to safe cycling be displayed to the
public for a month.

The minutes from the December 11, 2006 meeting were read and
approved.
*Treasurer’s Report:
A check in the amount of $1,000.00 was submitted to the Iowa Bike Coalition.
Motion was made by Jerry Davis and seconded by Vern Rotert. In
addition, we also
support the Linn County Trail Organization.
*Web Master:

*Racing Report:
Every Tuesday evening at 5:15 p.m., indoor training (on rollers or trainers)
will be held
behind the Wal-Mart on Blairs Ferry Road NE until the weather is warmer.
There are
between four and seven members participating.
*Swine Trek:
This event will be held at Pleasant Creek Park in Palo on June 23, 2007.
*RAGBRAI:
Applications are due February 15, 2007. Kevin Morgan has volunteered
to attend the
RAGBRAI meeting in Des Moines, Iowa for Ride Right.

*Touring Report:
The Rider Leader meeting will be held February 12, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Lynch Room
of Gage Memorial Union Hall (lower level), Coe College.
*Member Relations:
Seventy (70) members have submitted their 2007 dues.

Some jerseys are still available.
*New Business:
a) Effective March 1, 2007, Jerry Falta will be the new
treasurer.

*Treasurer Report: We received a refund from Telephone Company.
People are starting to renew 2007 memberships.
*Web Master: Ride Reports are up-to-date. Forum has
drawn interest. We have thirty-four registered members. Chat feature
is now restored.
*Racing Report: Check the Web for the location to do indoor
training with HBA members. Thanks to Larry Howe.
*Swine Trek: Unavailable.
*RAGBRAI: Unavailable.
*Member News: No new news.
*Touring Report: A total of twelve people participation on Tour de
Lites. Looking for a ride leader for January 1, 2007.

The minutes from September were read and approved.
*Treasurer Report: The club is solvent
*Web Master: No website news.
*Racing Report: Total of 19 people participated in the racing
program this year.
*Swine Trek: Suggestion received to offer a 150 mile route.
Suggestion will be considered.
*Touring Report: Between 13 and 19 people participated in the weekend
rides. The riding season is slowing down, but has not stopped.
* RAGBRAI Report: Art Sibold will attend the Ride Right Meeting at
Coralville (6 pm on Oct 18).
*Member News: Rick & Lisa Paulos did a trip in August to Sourht
Dakota. Jan Sevey did a trip to upper Michigan.
*Members Relations: We have 163 members.
*Old Business: We are ordering more jerseys, to be delivered
before the holidays.
*New Business:
1) Ken Klein spoke to the
Board about Pearl-Izumi clothing.
2) There are two openings on the Executive Board: one for
Vice-President, and one for Member News.
The next meeting will be Monday November 13, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at
Gage Memorial Union Hall, Coe College
The Annual Fall Pot Luck and election of officers will begin at 6:30 p.m.
